The Rule of Changing Sentence
Simple Sentence: The sentence which has only one subject and a finite verb is called simple sentence.
Complex sentence: The sentence which has only one principal clause and one or more than one subordinate clause is called complex clause.
Compound Sentence: The sentence which has only one principal clause and one         or more than one co-ordinate clause is called compound sentence.

EX: Closing the door, I went back to work.
Since/as/when

Ex: When I closed the door, I went back to work.
And

Ex:  Since the writer was young, he could not refuse the proposal of lady guest.

=The writer was young and could not refuse the proposal of the lady guest.

In spite of/  despite of
Ex: In spite of his trying to pray, he could not get rid of the curse.
Though/although
Ex: Though he tried to pray, he could not get rid of the curse.
But
Ex: He tried to pray but he could not get rid of the curse.

By+ verb+ing

Ex: By reading newspaper, you can enrich your knowledge.
If  (affirmative form)
Ex: If you read newspaper, you can enrich your knowledge.
And
Read newspaper and you can enrich your knowledge.

Ex: Without studying well, you cannot pass well.
If  (negative form)

Ex: If you don’t study well, you can’t pass well.
Or

Ex: Study well or you can’t pass well.

Ex: He was too dull to understand it.
So----that

Ex: He was so dull that he could not understand it.

Ex: He was very dull and he could not understand it.

Ex: We read to learn
So that

Ex: He woke up at the time of raining.
When

Ex: I saw a man who was blind.
And
Ex: I saw a man and he was blind.

Ex: He is not only a singer but also a poet.
